California LO-OVE……

So Cali was truly fantastic! We rented a Gunmetal Gray VW bug convertible, put the top down, and never looked back! San Diego was nice. We did the wild animal park, saw Gabe’s cousin, Gabe surfed and had a great time and we visited with Shamu! By the way, he does a great show!! The last day of surfing we packed up and headed up the Pacific Coast Highway(PCH or Hwy 1) It is a beautiful drive up the coast of California. We did the drive in two days, stopping in San Simeon to see the Hearst Castle, the amazing home of William Randolph Hearst. (That is one of his pools pictured below)

After that we got back on the PCH and headed for San Francisco! My friend Bridget lives in Knob Hill in the city and we stayed with her for the rest of our trip. SF is one of the most beautiful places to me. I loved going to sleep to the sound of fog horns and waking up to them as well. Hearing the clang of the cable cars and feeling the ever-present breeze. I may sound over the top, but SF is one of my loves. There is a reason for the song “I left my Heart in SF” We had so much fun with Bridget! We did Fisherman’s Wharf, Muir Woods(redwoods), Alcatraz & Angel Island. We also went up to Napa Valley and had some fun at the wineries, and of course, hit Ghirardelli Square for a much deserved chocolate break! We had a delicious dinner in the Italian distrct and I must say we certainly never went hungry in SF! It was truly a fantastic trip! I am posting more of the photos on my picture site.

How wonderful!! That sounds like the most perfect trip to me. San Fran has not been one of my favorite places to visit(just weather related, really) but you make me feel as if I need to go back and spend some more time there. I didn't realize I was missing it so much. :) What a lovely trip! Love the pictures, too.
